Message from the Principal
Digi Awards
Charisma, a Year 5 girl was really excited to attend the disco. Here is some of her
feedback. “The disco was a lot smaller than the last one. I wore my favourite green dress
with a sparkly blue top. I felt like a princess. I put on my own eye shadow and lipstick.
The music was really loud but I was able to dance with my friends until the end. We were
fundraising for the marae visit. It was a good idea because people were able to bring
their friends. I can’t wait until the next one!”
Marae
Kaitiaki is new to Terrace End School. He has visited more than 19 maraes before. He
especially liked learning about the history of the ancestors. The activities, like the
nightline were really fun because adults hid in the trees and squirted the kids with
water from their water guns. Clanging cymbals and feather dusters were also part of
the scary things on the nightline. Maka really enjoyed the visit becuase he learnt to
perform the haka with his mates to an audience of girls who reciprocated by performing
poi dancing.
Freyberg Water Safety
Melleza is new to our school and as a Year 6 student she really enjoyed the experience at
the Freyberg pools. “I mostly liked the life jacket activity. We had to jump off the diving
board into the deep water and thrust that our life jacket would keep us a float. Getting in
the raft and falling off the right way, backwards, was a bit hard.”
Massey who has been several times before still enjoys the diving in and racing in the long
pool- it’s a bit longer and deeper than ours!
